Bite This - Episode 19 #1: We kick off today's ep Bite This - Episode 19

#1: We kick off today's episode with a fact about sloths! 🦥 Most of us know that they move slowly and sleep for very long periods of time and can hold their breath longer than dolphins can ... but something that I just learned about them is that they can also hold their breath for up to 40 minutes by slowing their heart rate down! 🫁 How amazing is that? Even dolphins need to come up for air after about ten minutes! 🐬😲

#2: Another fun fact has to do with #Frootloops! If you are anything like me and thought you were eating different flavours - well - turns out that is not the case! They are ALL the same flavour! 🥣😜

#3: Lastly, the last person you expected to be nominated for a Nobel Peace Prize is Adolf Hitler! Apparently he was nominated at one point but Swedish politician who sent the letter of nomination in 1939, ironically withdrew his nomination. In an even more ironic twist, Hitler himself had banned Germans from accepting the awards four years before his own name was thrown in the ring. 😮

🍩🍩🍩🍩🍩🍩🍩🍩🍩🍩🍩🍩🍩🍩 It's Friday which means I'm sharin 🍩🍩🍩🍩🍩🍩🍩🍩🍩🍩🍩🍩🍩🍩

It's Friday which means I'm sharing my latest and greatest this week and it has a little something to do with #Donuts! Since I'm in #Florida, I had to pop into a Dunkin' Donuts - because as far as I can see - #Dunkin is the #TimHortons of the US - so I had to see what all the buzz was all about! Interestingly enough, donuts are also meaningful for me because they represent real moments that I spent with my #grandparents at donut shops - really just enjoying each bite and living the moment. It brings me back to my childhood in such a real way! When I finally got a Dunkin here - had to pick up their top donut #flavours - #applecrumble, #doublechocolate, and #vanillasprinkle + many more! I decided to take them home to my family and re-create those same moments - just sitting around the table - laughing and making sure to soak those #sweet moments! @dunkin

What do donuts mean to you? 🍩

So guys! Some fun news for you! Currently in Flor So guys! Some fun news for you!

Currently in Florida - up to something exciting, stay tuned because you're going to hear more on this soon for sure! But in the meantime I can share some fun updates with you on my travel overall. Florida is honestly one of the best places to visit - absolutely love their palm trees, love of oranges and the relaxed lifestyle that everyone seems to lead here! Everything is also super clean!

Getting back to my experience travelling here! Everything went pretty smoothly, but then something really crazy happened that delayed our flight by 30 mins! The airline had to call in security and have them do a background check on this one business class passenger!! She was super aggressive and was complaining about having to wear a mask on the flight - which we all know is part of the rule - so not sure why she was surprised by this! Then she started banging against the wall and yelling which led the one flight attendant who was trying to deal with her to say "I am not comfortable taking this flight with you", to which she replied "oh no, I am not going anywhere". They called in security and started brewing up a tea, put some honey in it and told her to stay calm for a bit while they sort out next steps. I don't know if it was the honey that was in there or just the fear that got to her - but she was an angel for the rest of the flight. Unfortunately, the flight was delayed by 30 minutes as a result though!

Bees are truly incredible and do so much for us - they not only work around the clock to produce that sweet honey that we love so much, but they also are part of our ecosystem and things just wouldn't be the same without them. Honey comes with so many healing properties - and can really help reduce anxiety and stress. Some even say that it is the easiest way to do that! Thank you sweet honey for allowing us to take off!

Let's kick things off with his fun fact! Looks lik Let's kick things off with his fun fact! Looks like as technology advances - so does our ability to share our lives with others - even after we pass! Quite a few people have jumped onto the new trend of adding QR Codes to their #gravestones. This allows you to see little clips from their lives - whether it is a message that they themselves had curated before their own death or a few clips showing them in action when they were alive - that were pulled together by friends and family. What do you think of this new trend? Is this something that you would want on your gravestone?

Next we move onto a popular subject that we all know a lot about - #cocacola! Well it turns out that Coca Cola actually used to be more of a #wine like product that was presented at some of those fairs we all hear about - where they would say that it had medicinal qualities and could help cure certain ailments. So John Pemberton created something very similar and started selling it - but when prohibition came into play - he had to make edits to the original recipe and remove the alcohol - which left him with something that is very close to the version of coke that we're familiar with today - except that cocaine is no longer in Coca Cola Beverages. I always knew about cocaine - but didn't know that the original version was intended to be more like a wine.

And lastly, for those who were also worried about mosquito bites and how much blood they actually extract from you - well this should definitely give you some comfort, because the number of mosquitos that would be required to suck out all of your blood is HUGE! It would take 12 million mosquitos to drain you of your blood - and the likelihood of that ever happening is next to nothing!

Hope you enjoyed today's episode! Don't forget to come back for more!

Whether you are a Fan of Art 🧑‍🎨🎨🖼️ or the just lo Whether you are a Fan of Art 🧑‍🎨🎨🖼️ or the just love the Art of Sushi 🍣🍙 - what you can say for sure is that our minds, creativity and that artistic side that we all have really does come out in so many ways and helps us truly understand life and all that it has to offer - in the most authentic way! We are able to translate our thoughts and feelings into a piece of art - and have that moment captured - and standing still - in a painting or in a sketch for the remainder of time. A sushi artist loves to do the same - they use their technique and understanding of our taste buds - in a way that helps them lay out dishes that truly excite our palette and make us understand their perspective on that cuisine. They envision something and then present it to us, so that we can have our senses activated - the taste ... the texture ... the taste ... 🤤

This week we had a chance to try out some incredible sushi at a new spot in the downtown core - @mademoiselleto! The ambiance is absolute perfection, the music, energy and vibes are all aligned - you just can't go wrong! We had a chance to try out several incredible dishes crafted and whipped up by the talented @daniel.ken - and boy was it an experience to remember! My favourite dish was the last one where they laid out several different types of sashimi on rice - and had us try them all - it was a buttery - mouth-watering experience! Can't wait to go back! 🍽️🤍

We also had a chance to pop into @yawtony's #blackpalette exhibition - and our senses were activated in yet another way! His take on the world and how it translates into his art is truly incredible - and I was both impressed and surprised by the diversity in his approach and the level of depth that applied to each piece. Thank you @ceventsociety for always introducing me to fantastic and talented people that make this life one that is full of culture and colour! When we are exposed to those who see things differently or hear different viewpoints and perspectives - our minds and our hearts open up - and we are left with unforgettable experiences!

FLOW - Episode 1: The Butterfly Struggles Wanted FLOW - Episode 1: The Butterfly Struggles

Wanted to today off with an #ASMR session. This series is intended to really take you somewhere far away - giving you a chance to dive in deep and just fully let go!

Today's story has to do with a caterpillar and a cocoon!

As we know, #caterpillars go through their own transitions and have stages - before turning into a full grown butterfly where they can spread their wings! The last step involves the caterpillar forming their own cocoon and sitting in it for about 10-12 days until they finally work to emerge a #butterfly! 🦋 This one butterfly was on its way out, but halted for a bit and seemed to be struggling to make it through the #cocoon hole. A man walking by decided to clip the hole in the cocoon to make it easier for the butterfly-to-be to emerge! Unfortunately though, this resulted in him only being able to walk (not fly), his wings were shortened and his body was bloated. 😢

As I sit here sipping my tea and really digesting the moral of that story, I am reminded of how important it is to let things flow and let nature take its course! 🍵🫖 It is so incredible how the universe works and so clear to me that everything is designed a certain way for a reason!

Special thanks to @beemaid for their delicious Li'l Honey Packs that I can take with me on the go - all the time. Whether I'm at my desk 🖥️, travelling ✈️🌍 or on the beach 🏖️ - I always have my little sweet something next to me.🍯 BeeMaid Honey is made up of over 300 Western Canadian Beekeepers who take care of honeybees and harvest their delicious honey! Bite This - Episode 17 - Barbie, Disneyland Pirat Bite This - Episode 17 - Barbie, Disneyland
Pirates of the Caribbean & Mike The Headless Chicken

#1: It turns out that Barbie was actually co-designed by a missile engineer! Go figure right! 🤔 👨‍🏭 When it came time to create Barbie, Handler assigned Mattel designer Jack Ryan to the task. A Yale alum, Ryan worked for an aerospace company prior to joining the team at Mattel. In fact, he helped design the government's Hawk and Sparrow III missile systems before helping to create Barbie 💕

Source: https://bestlifeonline.com/barbie-facts/

#2: Disneyland’s famous Pirates of the Caribbean ride actually used REAL skeletons! 🦴☠️

The engineers from Disney took one look at the fake skeletons that were initially brought in and thought that they weren’t creepy enough 🤔 This might be because prosthetics in the 1960s weren’t as convincing as they are now. To offer a more authentic experience, Disney engineers enlisted the help of the University of California Los Angeles’ anatomy department for real skeletons 🙀

Source: https://facts.net/creepy-facts/

#3: Mike the Headless Chicken was alive for 18 months after being decapitated 🙀
What’s the backstory to this creepy fact? Farmer Lloyd Olsen meant to eat Mike for dinner with his wife, but the swing of his ax wasn’t perfect. He missed the chicken’s jugular vein and most of the brain stem. Even without a head, Mike was alive, and he wobbled and crowed in his tour of fame 🐔

One of the memories that always comes back to me i One of the memories that always comes back to me is all of the homemade recipes that I used to make with my #grandma! Those 'natural' recipes that just really were great at keeping you looking and feeling great! A little garlic for dinner and then mash it up and apply it to unclog pores and clear your face! And the same goes for some tea! Let's have some good old tea time and sip sip - then let's apply those tea bags to our eyes for some de-puffing! It is incredible what you can do with the natural stuff in life - and that is also one of the reasons why I love the @dermaniche skincare line up!

DermaNiche uses 100% natural active ingredients. Their products are #Vegan, #CrueltyFree, #Halal, and #Kosher. Made with all #natural, #activeingredients! 🤍

Bite This - Episode 16! Title: Shrooms 🍄 - Being Bite This - Episode 16!

Title: Shrooms 🍄 - Being Late in Venezuela 🇻🇪 and The Meaning Behind the 100 Pleats in a Chef Hat 👩‍🍳

#1: Apparently, shrooms can help smokers quit!

One of the crazy facts you definitely shouldn’t try at home: According to a 2014 study, 12 out of 15 addicts were able to quit smoking through magic mushrooms 🤔 For 3 sessions, the chronic smokers were treated with psychedelic mushrooms. Surprisingly, the 80% success rate dwarfed the 35% success rate of leading treatment drugs.

#2: Being on time is rude in Venezuela 🇻🇪
Chronically late people, rejoice! While some cultures such as the Japanese practice extreme punctuality (usually arriving an hour before the meeting time), Venezuelans consider anything less than 15 minutes late to be rude. For Venezuelans, arriving on the dot or even a few minutes before means you’re too eager and greedy.

#3: Bon Appétit magazine brings us this tasty tidbit. A chef's tall hat (officially known as a "toque") is traditionally made with 100 pleats, meant to represent the 100 ways to cook an egg.👩‍🍳

As is always said - all good things must come to a As is always said - all good things must come to an end - and so we ended up flying back to #Toronto eventually - but to be honest - flying back home is always a joy too! ✈️🌎🏙️ It means reuniting with family and feeling grounded - so either way it's all good stuff! 👨‍👩‍👦 🤍👭There is also the fun task of which movie to watch on the plane ride back and waiting to see what food is going to be served up! 🧑‍🍳🍳🥤On this flight back our meal was Colombian-inspired - some delicious eggs and plantain and one of those yummy bread buns that they eat with a chocolate beverage, coffee or tea! 🥚🥚☕🍵🍞🍽️

It was also so much fun travelling with Koffee for the first time! He got to see a little bit more of the world and come back home with some new memories and experiences! We also had a blast having him on the flight with us! He behaved so well - our beautiful little boy - and he enjoyed the whole ride! 🐶🐾 Thankfully we were able to keep him propped up on our laps vs in travel bag as he is a Registered Service Dog! As long as your pet meets certain size requirements and is officially a Registered Service Dog - you should be able to get them approved in advance to travel with you!

Once I landed back home, I quickly unpacked and then checked out some of the fun packages that landed on our doorstep! For starters, #Koffee ended up with a beautiful and super comfy doggie bed from our friends at @sleepenvie! 🐶🛏️ Thanks guys! #Koffee is obsessed!

Then I opened up a fun package from our friends at @dermalogicacanada! 🎁 Absolutely loved the milkfoliant that came inside the box - along with a notebook and lovely blue clip! 📓💙 One of the best parts about returning home is kicking things off with my skincare routine again and really continuing to take care of my skin after encountering new environments and that dry airplane air! ✈️🌎

It's that time again! Time for one of my "In The S It's that time again! Time for one of my "In The Shower Thoughts" stories! 🚿

Today I think back to a time when my siblings and I used to visit with my grandparents! 👵👴 And we always used to love fighting over the massage chair that was in the basement. My grandparents would each take turns on it and they were always so kind to eachother - not like my sisters and I LOL. One time we got into such a big fight over it that we actually broke it! 💥 My sister was pressing on the 'start' button and I was pressing on the 'stop' button - because I wanted my turn! 🔘🔴 She was already on there for an hour! And she knew she was pushing it. But as we can see here - the lesson is always the same! Fighting never really solves anything! Now it was broken and neither of us could use it! 🙀

Skip to today where I now have a chance to sit in my very own #massagechair that also doubles as a #gaming chair! 💺 Yes! You read that right! My @osimcanada UThrone chair is literally the place to be! I have seriously leveled up my game and have not experienced any fatigue along the way! Gaming is a serious game lol 🤣 And now that I can regenerate on the spot with v-hand technology - 360 rollerballs - lumbar press technology and control it all from my arm rest - well let's say I'm definitely a different kind of gamer these days! 🎮

Bite This - Episode 15 Let's start off with this Bite This - Episode 15

Let's start off with this fun fact! Did you know that stop signs used to be yellow until the 1950s! 🤷‍♀️

The American Association of State Highway Officials did originally want to have red stop signs, but red dyes available at that time faded after a while, so they went with yellow dyes that didn't fade. 🛑🖐️🟡

Have you ever wondered how many licks it takes to get to the middle of a Tootsie Pop? A group of engineering students from Purdue University reported that its licking machine, modeled after a human tongue, took an average of 364 licks to get to the center of a Tootsie Pop. Twenty of the group's volunteers assumed the licking challenge-unassisted by machinery-and averaged 252 licks each to the center. 🍭👅

Now onto the topic of snails! Did you know that snails can actually hibernate for periods of up to three years! 🙀. This is their survival instinct kicking in. If the conditions aren't favorable, they'll stay asleep until it's safe to come out! 🐌🛌

Today is National Clean Beauty Day so I took this Today is National Clean Beauty Day so I took this opportunity to share my love for a skincare brand that comes to mind on this incredible day - @dermaniche - and to share some of the beautiful natural sights that we visited in #colombia! We ended up going to the highest point in the city - and saw the most stunning views of #bogota from the top of a mountain - #monserrate! Everything from restaurants, to churches, to souvenir shops are there for you to enjoy! Make sure you get prepped for the trek up though, because it does get harder to breathe up there - a little test for your lungs!

For those of you who have been tooning into my #wisdomtooth story - you will see how much swelling actually occured. It was definitely something I didn't expect - but is common with #wisdomtooth removals 🦷 I only had one removed thankfully - how many wisdom teeth have you have removed? 🤔

In the Shower Thoughts! 🚿 So this one is an inter In the Shower Thoughts! 🚿

So this one is an interesting one for sure because it actually happened on this trip!

We were having a blast travelling and capturing epic moments on this #Colombia trip - taking snapshots here and there and really trying to dive into the experience fully!

We stopped by a number of cute restaurants and cafes and I realized that #Ajiaco soup is literally my favourite thing ever! It is a traditional soup that typically includes some key ingredients like: #Cilantro, #Chicken, #CornOnTheCob, #Potatoes and more - and I loved it so much I started eating it for #breakfast and #lunch. On day 2 at breakfast I was chewing and suddenly bit the back of my mouth where a wisdom tooth had been growing out for quite some time. At first I didn't think much of it, but then it started to get really painful and chewing became a lot harder over the next couple of days, so I decided it was time to get it removed! The dental surgeon said that my teeth are in excellent condition, and that the root of my teeth is super long and strong which is great news for me, but not the best thing for him because it meant pulling it out was going to be a bit more of a struggle. Long story short, the surgery went well, but my face ended up super swollen and I literally felt like a chipmunk for about 3 days post-surgery - LOL. You can tell as much in some of these photos but you can definitely see it in the last one! Haha!

Thankfully I was able to continue to enjoy all of the beautiful sights that Bogota had to offer even though I was going through this!

Bite This - Episode 14 The Omen (1976) - The Ome Bite This - Episode 14

The Omen (1976) - The Omen had some of the weirdest events occur during filming. For those who are unaware, The Omen is about a little boy who also happens to be the antichrist. The evil boy is the cause of many tragedies in the movie, such as dog attacks and horrific 'accidents'. However, on the set, similar accidents and events started to occur. First, Gregory Peck's son committed suicide during the filming of the movie. While this may just appear to be a tragic coincidence, it wasn't the worst event to have occurred.

There were also several horrific vehicular accidents that occurred on set. A member of the crew was involved in a horrible car accident when driving to set and a scriptwriter's plane was struck by lightning while traveling to the set. While one plane being struck by lightning may not appear to be too scary, Gregory Peck's aircraft was also struck by lightning while traveling to the set on a different day. Finally, another plane that attempted to take off from set tragically crashed into a nearby road and killed all 11 crew members on board.

Next up we have - Ram Singh Chauhan’s mustache is the longest, at 14 feet!

The Indian man’s facial hair was measured in Rome, Italy, on March 4, 2010.

It is unknown what Ram has been up to since, or how long his moustache is now, but the record-breaker has yet to be beat.

When he won the record, he had been growing his moustache since 1970, spending two hours every day pampering it to ensure its continual growth – but said he only washes it once a fortnight.

And lastly - The Dance With The Dead

A Madagascar tribe ritual requires dancing with dead loved ones.

The Malagasy tribe of Madagascar has a tradition of dancing with dead relatives as part of the Famadihana funeral process. Once every 7 years, they would recover their ancestors’ dead bodies from their graves, dress them in fresh cloth, and dance around the tomb.
