What does this mean? This means absolutely everything to me! Being an Ambassador for Children Believe is a dream come true. I have always wanted to make an impact, and to create change in this world – really have a voice and do something impactful with the skills that I acquired over the years. I also knew something wasn’t quite right when I was working in a corporate setting – not because there was anything wrong with it at all , but more because I had this itch – this feeling that I knew there was something more that I could offer this world – and that – I guess you can say in a way – I felt that I had a bigger purpose in life.
With social media become such a powerful force and having noticed so many people starting their channels and really building a following – creating their unique place in this world, and sharing their personal stories of change, challenge and growth – I felt this was the time to jump on board and do the same. There will often be so much negativity surrounding this choice to take a new direction and really fulfill a new purpose in life – most of this negativity – likely stemming from fear – and just judgement overall – but anyone who has really made a mark in this world, had to overcome all of that – and really just genuinely ‘believe’ in all that they wanted to achieve and to share with the world – which is what necessary for growth and for new perspectives to be seen and heard.Because without change – learning – adapting – educating and sharing – there would be no progress.
One of the most impactful experiences in my life – takes me back to my time in India with Children Believe. We had the opportunity to visit India with the Children Believe team – to really see the great work that was happening on the ground and to connect one-on-one with individuals in these communities, as well as having an opportunity to meet the Children Believe team in India at their Head Quarters. They really spearhead so many of the programs that we hear and learn about here in Canada – and in other parts of he world – so to have a chance to sit down with them and really ask all of the questions that we had been holding on to – and to get a sense of the family and the community that was so apparent among the employees there – it really was a full circle experience.
So much of what we do here in Canada is to really support, donate and get a birds-eye view on all of the great initiatives that continue to be put in place to help create some real change in these communities – and this really served as an opportunity to truly understand exactly how these initiatives impacted lives on the daily.
