Colombia: Chic Hotel Experiences!

The team and I have really been aiming to visit as many countries as we can over the next few years! Taking on the social media world full time has really given us the flexibility to make constant travel a reality. We have travelled within Canada – headed out to a few European countries for some pretty awesome collaborations – but decided this time around – that we would go south for a change! Going south tends to mean… going to the United States … for many of us – but this time around – we looked to South America for our next stop! And we landed on Colombia!
Colombia: Perception vs. Reality
Growing up in Canada – in what I like to think of as an incredible first world country – I grasped pretty early on that my family … my life here in this country – was one that was definitely privileged. Although I never was witness to the day-to-day challenges faced by many around the world – many who aren’t as fortunate as me – I still really understood that I seriously won the lottery – I won the lottery of life essentially. Thinking about this idea thoroughly and realizing that I really could have been born anywhere else around the world – and that the likelihood of me ending up where I did – was just sheer luck! My opportunities were virtually endless and I was in a country – in a city – where my dreams could literally become my reality. As long as I was determined and worked hard at it – there was no reason why I couldn’t achieve all of my goals!
You might be wondering where I am going with this! Well – I’ll tell you! One of the reasons why I really wanted to take the team to Colombia…was because I was on a mission to change people’s perceptions about what this country had to offer. I wanted to show them what it ‘really’ had to offer – I wanted to start talking ‘reality’ and not allowing people’s perceptions to cloud their judgements! This country is really quite something! The people are great – the culture is incredible and the food – well – that’s completely next level!
Chic Sophistic x Hilton Bogota
So, now that you have a little bit of background – I’ll get into the good stuff! The team and I have been partnering up with the Hilton almost everywhere that we travel around the world – so we thought why not do something great with Hilton Bogota! We were going to be staying in the capital for the entirety of the trip – so this seemed like a great place to land. The hotel is located in a fantastic spot – super central and close to a lot of attractions and restaurants – and speaking of restaurants – you’ll likely not want to step foot outside of the restaurant located “in” the hotel – once you try the food there – because it is insanely good! The head chef @piattinico is so creative and just really the best at his craft – him and his team whipped up some amazing dishes for us – each dish really has its own story to tell…and took us on quite a journey – a journey filled with whimsy and discovery – a true experience.
When we first arrived to the room – we were welcomed with a delicious dessert – something that we ate and enjoyed as we admired the view. There really is nothing quite like it – the mountains almost seem like they have something to say – they can’t be missed…yet they serve as the perfect peaceful background when you’re relaxing in your room and just setting down after a long day. When we woke up the next more morning – we headed down to the executive lounge where we were greeted in the most pleasant way – both by the staff and by the smell of warm croissants, fresh juice and coffee! Once we fuelled up – we started to plan out our day and do a bit of touring around the city – there really is so much to see and do – it is endless!
